JURASCALS: THE CHARACTERS, CONCEPT AND COMIC STRIP
JURASCALS is a comic strip that really attempts to define "place", a specific location where the story is printed. This is what makes it unique from other comic strips.
Author/Artist: J. Timothy Quirk is a freelance artist living in New England. While teaching his children to read, J. Timothy created a series of books that accentuated "sight words" his daughter was learning in school. JURASCALS is based on that work. In November 2010, his weekly cartoon called Happy Central New York (Happy CNY) first appeared in the Skaneateles Journal and has been seen continuously in that weekly newspaper since! On April 11, 2011, the JURASCALS daily comic strip was "born" being published daily in the Auburn Citizen, the newspaper of record in Auburn, New York. On 11/12/2012, JURASCALS came to Nebraska-the McCook Daily Gazette!
In 2014, his comic strip The Crayon Diary came to Torrington, Connecticut. All comics continue to the present day!
Now Jurascals specifically
The comic strip is exclusively created by J. Timothy Quirk. Here's the article in the McCook Daily Gazette about the work! http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1912872.html

Our Philosophy for these e-books:
We want to assist parents, caregivers and teachers by providing this website as a resource. It is not designed to be an all encompassing resource or any substitute for a school curriculum (even when the volume of books on this website increases). This website is meant to help a child read a book and enjoy the process of reading.
Our stories celebrate libraries, schools and local artists. In addition, all of us associated on this project have had the benefit of traveling across the United States and there are certain places that have touched our hearts. We want to celebrate those locations by depicting them in different stories.
If there is a particular library, school or town you have visited that touched your heart, please let us know about it!
